History and Craft of Distilling
Behind the Scenes at Sturgeon Spirits
Step into Sturgeon Spirits Distillery for a truly unique experience—a behind-the-scenes tour led with the passion and expertise of Karl Loewenstein, a former professor who has dedicated his life to teaching and storytelling.
This isn't just a distillery tour. It's a lesson in history, science, and Wisconsin heritage—brought to life through the art of craft distilling.
Karl Loewenstein spent 21 years as a history professor at UW-Oshkosh before turning his passion for spirits into a full-time career. When you join our tour, you're not just learning from a distiller—you're learning from an educator who knows how to make complex subjects fascinating, accessible, and memorable.
We welcome guests into our distillery to explore the complete distilling process—from fermentation to tasting—while hearing the stories behind each spirit and discovering what makes Sturgeon Spirits truly unique.
