Founder
The founder and president of Sturgeon spirits, Karl Loewenstein is passionate about the craft and traditions of distilling. Karl, who retired from a 21 year career teaching history at UW Oshkosh in January 2024, believes in community, sustainability, and spirited living.
These principles are part of our tasting room and every product that we create. Join us to find out how that makes us unique.

Rooted in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. We support local suppliers, promote local history, and help make Oshkosh a special place.
Sustainability
Much like the stability and protection of the Lake Sturgeon in the Winnebago system, we want to contribute to practices that better our world. We support local conservation efforts and are instituting sustainable practices in our distilling process. Our building uses repurposed woods and we are committed to an electric future.
Spirited Living
We believe that life is amazing and should be celebrated in as many ways as possible. We cherish the opportunity to share the fruits of our labor by producing high quality spirits for our community to enjoy.
